I love colour, always have done since I was a small girl, and my own home is filled with it. I think that’s why, for years, I have been drawn to the colourful shacks of South Africa where, despite poverty and racism, the people have made the most basic homes into incredible works of art, using magazines and food wrappers to decorate the walls.I hope they fire your imagination as much as mine…
Of course poverty doesn’t just fire the imagination of decoration in South Africa. Penny whistle music is found everywhere in townships. I just love it. Here’s Mike Bosco Kwela. Enjoy!
